Steven P. Smith was born in Preston, Lancs in 1974. He studied art A level and foundation course at Wigan and Leigh College, before going on to Middlesborough University in 1994 to study Fine Art.

Working in oil on board or canvas, Steven has developed a very photo-realistic style of painting influenced by American artists such as Chuck Close, Ralph Goings and Richard Estes.

His subject matter is predominantly focused on his family and the surrounding countryside of North West England and the Lake District. He has also begun to work with professional models in his studio.

Stevens recent joint shows have resulted in portrait commissions for the boxer Amir Khan and Sam Allardyce the football manager.
