Noel Ripley was born in 1944, near High Wycombe. His family moved to East Anglia during the 1950s and Noel Ripley worked initially as a design engineer.

Noel Ripley has painted professionally since 1982, in a traditional manner which captures the charm of the 19th century landscape.

Noel Ripley has always had a great love of painting and in the late 70s he studied fine art restoration with a particular interest in the Dutch and British schools of 19th century painting.
