Original paintings by Graham Isom
His father kept riding stables in Essex and later took up farming in Devon, providing the right 'country' background for his young son. Graham enlisted at the Revensbourne College of Art, studying art in general and specialising in sculpture. At the end of his four year course he obtained a degree, qualifying him to become a teacher, although he spent the best part of a year as a groom in stables on Dartmoor, before taking up a teaching post which he held for five years.
Private commissions for his paintings increased sufficiently for him to take up painting full-time and for two years he specialized in figure studies. After moving to Somerset, Graham was encouraged to specialize in equestrian works, his powerful studies of horses in action, whether hunting, racing or on the polo-field having brought him many admirers.
His works both in oils and watercolours are eagerly sought after at home and abroad. His painting of Dessert Orchid winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup was selected exhibition at the Kentucky Derby Museum and was awarded their Founders Prize for Oil Painting 1989.
Graham has been accepted into the American Academy of Equine Art and is now considered one of the leading equine artists.
His is available for painting commissions of hunting, racing, polo and all equestrian sports.
